Yes, shopping can be fun! I like to read the labels to see if they are Protective Diet approved. Reading labels is one of the many things I have learned in PD-ed (Protective Diet Education).
Do you read the labels on the items in your basket? Do you want to read the labels? Sometimes it’s easier to just ignore what’s really in your basket. It taste good so it has to be good, right?
I remember before starting Protective Diet reading labels and wondering, what are all these ingredients in the products I was buying. Do they really need to be in there? Are these things really good for me? I remember that shopping experience so vividly. I really wanted to cook healthy, but I didn’t know how. I really didn’t like to cook and definitely my cooking skills were lacking.
Now, I have control over what I put into my body because of PD-ed and the wonderful PD recipes. Reversing disease, improving my heath, learning how to cook and the most important part of it all, loving and feeling satisfied with the food I cook.
So you are probably thinking, what’s the point to all of this. Well when I was shopping at Whole Foods today, I was looking for the pasta sauce I always buy. I couldn’t find it. There was a new product or at least a new label. So I read the ingredient and new instantly that it was a product I wanted.
Here are the ingredients:
Fat Free Organic Pasta Sauce: Organic Tomato Puree, Organic Diced Tomatoes, Organic Garlic, Salt, Organic Basil, Organic Paprika, Organic Oregano, Organic Black Pepper.
New product: Fat Free Marinara Pasta Sauce: Organic Diced Tomatoes, Organic Tomato Puree, Organic Garlic Puree (Organic Garlic, Water), Organic Onions, Salt, Organic Garlic, Organic Basil, Organic Oregano, Organic Black Pepper.
I usually make my own pasta sauce or use the Quick Red Pasta Sauce Recipe. I like having the Fat Free Organic Pasta Sauce in my pantry for really quick and easy meal. Looking forward to tying the Marinara pasta sauce.
